T O P I C     R E V I E W Tomb Whilst the Algorithmix plug-ins work extremely well with Audiograbber to remove noise, pops and clicks when rcording vinyl via line-in sampling does anyone know of any software to remove sound due to scratches? The scratches are "ingrained" into the records grooves. I have tried Goldwave and Wave Editor but to no avail. Thanks. Montaque Like you say "The scratches are "ingrained" into the records grooves" or more specifically the vinyl has been damaged and material removed from the record surface. Reconstruction is not possible. If it is a FAVORITE go to a search engine and see if it is available for same in a reasonable condition. I have been successful in finding records that were pressed 47 years ago and were still factory sealed at a reasonable price. Keep in mind that POPS and clicks may be annoying but GETTING RID of them also decreases the MUSIC - the more conservative the better - Tomb As I thought - I was just wondering if there was a piece of software available which could reduce the noise of a scratch. Sadly most UK Indie releases of the 1980's were produced on not very good vinyl and despite me keeping them in good condition some have picked some knocks on the way. Oh well! Back to the pops and clicks. I take your point. Steinberg Clean ruined the sound when I used that to "clean" recordings but the plug-ins used in Audiograbber have a much better effect and in most cases I cannot hear the difference (unless I use the enhancer). jsquared I use CoolEdit 2000 for this purpose. I've been transferring parts of my vinyl collection to CD. CE2K is a *great* program, but is not cheap. It's really more of a full-bore audio engineering package, that has a pop/hiss/scratch filter. Also, the scratchier the record, the harder to get out the noise without seriously compromising the sound. Fortunatly, there are much better available as dx-plugins. Still, in order to get rid of annoying sounds there will always be some loss in the desired sounds.
