T O P I C     R E V I E W firemyst I upgraded from Win ME to W2K Server. I have Audiograbber (full) version 1.40 First, I had to download the Adaptec ASPI archive to install because AG didn't recognize any CD-ROM drives. Now, I've downloaded and installed the latest ASPI driver from the Adaptec site. However, AG still doesn't work. When I select "Settings|General Settings", the pull down list for "CD ROM Unit" is blank. I cannot click on it or do anything. That's also the same for "CDROM Type", "Rip Method", and "DAE Speed". It won't even allow me to click the "Detect" button. However, everything else on that screen works fine. The ASPI check that came with the latest archive said everything's installed and running perfectly. Help! moonroy Always try the latest version of AG before posting problems with the software. Update your version of AG to 1.82build2. It is for free for registered users. Try aspi 4.60 instead of 4.7x. It is found in ForceASPI. I have Win2k with ASPI installed, but AG didn't detect it. This is not an AG problem, it's a bad install routine by Adaptec. AFAIK is it illegal to post links to ASPI drivers other then the drivers from www.adaptec.com . DiDi I've tried everything. I downloaded the aspifix and followed instructions...deleting files and using the .bat to install. (XP system) I still get an ASPI error and it aborts. I am very frustrated. I'm leaving on a road trip tomorrow morning and was hoping to be able to rip and sing as I go. Please help! schrikg Maybe your drive can't do digital audio-extraction. Is it an old drive ? Thanks. schrikg Is the audiocd you are trying to rip, copy protected ? Is the audiocd damaged for example scratches ? Have you tried another audiocd ? Check with "aspichk.exe" from the www.adaptec.com page if ForceAspi realy did update to version 4.60 Maybe someone else suggestions ? ForceASPI 1.8 with Adaptec ASPI 4.7x is not what you should use. Earlier, Adaptec had a ASPI layer named 4.60 that only worked if you owned an Adaptec hardware. Someone made ForceASPI that forced the layer to be installed even if you did not own that specific hardware. Then Adaptec made an entirely new layer and named it 4.7x. ASPI 4.60 is known to work very stable. The newer layer 4.7x is known to cause problems on many computers. What you should do is to download ForceASPI 1.7 instead. A laptop may not be able to rip digitally. It is all about the hardware. If I bought a new and expensive laptop and it turns out the hardware is not able to rip audio I would be really irritated and complain to the company I bought it from. ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis ddill I also found that the ASPI 4.60 worked. I am using WinXP and Liteon 16X DVD R/RW drive. I also did the aspi fix, but also noted that some of the other aspi installers updated the registry. When all of this is correct, the aspichk.exe will say,"ASPI is properly installed and is fully operational." You now will need to go into the Audiograbber general settings and CD-ROM access method and set it to ASPI (Analog default would still not rip). Hope this works for you too!
