T O P I C     R E V I E W sounder My sound card is Realtek and the entry in settings is Realtek HD audio output. I get no sound when recording. The file is created. No sound on playback. Volume meter never responds during recording showing sound. Mixer button does not respond. I have "line in" checked in Realtek properties. Any thoughts? Tomb Just making sure you set up the windows recording properties correctly rather than just the playback properties. Control Panel>Sounds Speech & Audio Devices>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio Tab>Sound Recording>Click on volume and make sure line in is checked if you are recording from a device connected to the sound-card's line-in input or stereo mix/wave if you are recording from the sound-card direct i.e internet radio broadcast. The obvious thing would be to check you have connected the device to the line-in input which should be the blue input. If you are not recording from a turntable/cassette etc let us know what you are trying to record from. ------------------ Tom Please Read this before asking any questions. It makes life easier. I had read to enable or check the Stereo Mix, but had not seen that option. My audio driver is as updated as possible. You mentioned stereo mix/wave if you are recording from the sound-card direct i.e internet radio broadcast...I didn't even see an option for Wave in the Volume dialogue box in Audio properties. I do see a wave entry in my master volume control for volume and balance (I access via the volume icon in the system tray). Where do I go next? I couldn't even record with windows recorder. It created the file, like audiograbber did, but with no sound. I can play my music in media player normally. It is just recording that there is no sound on my system. Tomb Sounds like all your options for recording are not showing. Go back and follow the instructions as before. This time once you click on volume go to options>properties and then select the volume control you require. It should be called Stereo Mix or Wave but it differs depending on the sound card. Select them all if necessary and select each one and try recording until their is a response on the Audiograbber volume meter. ------------------ Tom Please Read this before asking any questions. There are only four options available in Properties: CD Volume, FrontMic, Mic Volume, and Line Volume. On a side note, under Sound Playback on the Audio property page the default device is Realtek HD Audio output, and under Sound Recording the default device is Realtek HD Audio input. And in Audiograbber, it shows only Realtek HD Audio Output as my sound card. I don't know if that is significant. I hope I can ask on other question which is a different topic: how do I stop audiograbber from starting every time windows loads? I looked through both misc tabs in settings and found no option for suppressing this. Thanks for the help. Tomb That could be significant if that's all the options you have under recording properties and Audiograbber cannot pick up the HD Input. I generally ignore the motherboard in built soundboard and install a dedicated sound card.
