I have enjoyed moderating the boards but I want to say thanks to Holler who helped out with everything relating to Audiograbber's karaoke functions. The question is where now for Audiograbber? It's been abandonware since 2004 but still surprisingly works well on Vista although there are some faults which I have summarised here. To be honest I don't use AG for ripping CD's anymore as I feel it has been left behind by dbpoweramp and Foobar for example which considering it's no longer developed is not that much of a surprise. However for recording vinyl and cassette it's hard to beat especially when using the Algorthimix plug-ins and I thoroughly recommend it for that purpose. If you do use it to rip CD's I suggest you use the Repackaged version which has test and copy functions and is the nearest AG has come to secure ripping. I will leave my http://www.ripping.v33.org up for the time being but like Audiograbber don't expect it to get updated! ------------------ Please Read this before asking any questions. It makes life easier. I am the guy who made Audiograbber but I have not been on the forum for a couple of years myself. I am so tired of working with computers nowadays and I just get depressed and feel a bit ashamed when I go in here and sees my program fade away. It was all the e-mail spam and e-mail support the brought me down. In 2002-2003 I spent most of my time dealing with e-mail spam and support and there was not much time left for programming. Audiograbber was also made by Borland C++ Builder 1.0 so if it should have been continued I would have needed a newer compiler but that would have required a major rewriting of the source code. I once planned to do that and bought a copy of Borland C++ Builder 6 but I soon found out it was too much boring work. The last couple of years I have not even checked my e-mails so I apologize to all who wonders why I don't answer e-mails. I hope I get the courage to at least come here to the forum and check for interesting questions once a week or so. And last, thanks to everyone who still helps people with my program now when I have got so bored of it. I just popped back because I found a bug in the Audiograbber Repackaged version which will not record from the line-in or microphone if placed in anything other than C:\Audiograbber. Luckily you can run more than one instance of Audiograbber which works fine at the above path when using line-in sampling. ------------------ Please Read this before asking any questions. It makes life easier. Ummmphhhhhh!!!! ------------------ Please Read this before asking any questions. It makes life easier. As for me, I have been using AG since 2001 (I guess it was v1.4 or 1.6 then... anyways) and I still continue to use AG as my primary CD ripping porgram. I have Easy CD DA Extractor v12 and dbPoweramp (which I use for converting from mp3 320 cbr to mp3 128 cbr for my ipod).. But CD ripping is still AG and thats largely due to the fact that its simple and good... So just wanted to thank Jackie for giving us such a wonderful program and all moderators here who have helped answer our queries A great program in its time and it remains so today... to me at least... The only difference is is that other rippers now have secure ripping and AG may rip tracks with errors. That said there is a version of AG that uses test & copy which would mean that such errors were flagged up so you could re-rip again. Search the forums for this. I use AG for line in recordings simply because the Algorthimix plug-ins are superior to anything else I have tried. I have abandoned it for CD rips now - somewhat reluctantly though it has to be said! Judging by the number of posts in the forum in seems that others have moved on to.Tomb After moderating these boards for a few years now I am now finding it difficult to find the time to dedicate to moderating these boards so it's with reluctance that I have to step down.
Tomshridd1 Sorry you're leaving your post. Many thanks for your efforts over the years and best wishes for the future! Holler Best of luck Tom.
Jackie Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into moderating the forum Tom!
I agree on what Tom says about other programs. I especially like that he recommends dBPowerAMP. The programmer of that program and I had some e-mail conversations during the years and we helped each other with some programming and he was/is a very nice person.Tomb Thanks Holler & Jackie!

Yeah... all the best again....
rohinton_ch Hi guys, just went thru the posts & I must say - its been a wonderful effort to answer all the user queries shridd1 Likewise I use AG for my line-in and CD ripping.... like you say its simple, I know my way around it and does everything as well as I could ever wish for. OK so maybe its 'out-of-date' and maybe audio quality is not as good as newer and more updated programs BUT, as my hearings not the best in the world anyway, I doubt I'd get any benefit of any of these... and I should imagine even to someone with perfect hearing the differences are minimal...?
Tomb There should be no difference in audio quality using AG and other rippers especially if you use the external encoder and the latest settings. Anyway quality is deceptive and the user who has to listen to the tracks should have the final say what is best for them. Or should that be "hear"!
