Bought the product a year or so ago. Put it aside after making a few files. Looked at it again recently, now have upgraded version 1.81. Can't see how to make MP3s now, only 160 WMAs.

Does AG make MP3s or not? What do I have to do to make them?

Yes. Typically you should be able to select Fraunhofer's MP3 codec on the same dropdown menu as WMA is on, but it seems that for some reason you cannot.

Rather than trying half a dozen different ways to get Fraunhofer to work, I suggest you use the external Lame MP3 encoder.

Acquire version 3.91 here. Extract it to AudioGrabber's folder. In AudioGrabber, click the MP3 button and go to the External Encoders section. Browse for LAME.EXE, and set the predefined arguments as User Defined. No matter what commandline you use, it always has to have the "%s %d " before it.

For constant bitrate encoding, use
--alt-preset cbr n where n is the bitrate (anything between 80 and 320 (but only 112kbps and up will give you 44kHz))

For average bitrate encoding, use --alt-preset n

For variable bitrate encoding, use one of the following (sorted by order of bitrate/quality (best=last))
--r3mix
--alt-preset standard
--alt-preset extreme

Or easier, go to http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/download.html and download and install LAME's MP3 encoder dll. Then start Audiograbber and LAME MP3 will be one of the options on MP3 settings, Internal encoders.

Based on the difficulty I had initially, you may need to verify that LAME is in Audiograbber's directory and not a subdirectory inside Audiograbber.

It wouldn't show up in the program for me until I made that switch.

Followed the short route of extracting lame_dnc.dll from the downloaded ZIP and putting it in the specified Audiograbber folder. It showed up in the MP3 encoder section as you expected it to, and gave me the MP3 option. Thanks for that.

Does the 3.91 DLL use the --alt-presets, or just the equivalent of making a commandline like -b 128?

The former is much more favourable than the latter.
