Does that mean you don't appreciate questions that can be answered by a download, installation and failed attempt? quote: But no, the main window still only supports ID3v1 and that standard does not allow any changes in genres.
Will this, then, be a permenant limitation of Audiograbber? I've been using it for a few years and checking back in now and again on this forum with the question thinking v2 genre support is something you'll be incorporating. If not, and you find the question annoying, then moving on to a product that incorporates it is not a problem. FWIW, I've recommended A.G. to a large number of people over the years on usenet and various mailing lists and someone always points out this limitation (and the track at a time work around) if I forget to. It has become more important with the increased usage of hardware players that internally organize their content by genre and require ID3v2 tags for it. Thanks,

The best is always to first give it a try yourself instead of taking up the time of all the people browsing thru the forums. If there is something you can't figure out yourself then go ahead and ask your question.AG will support an easier way of editing the ID3v2 tag. Perhaps it won't be implemented until the major GUI updated version 2.0 but the intention is to support it. As of now, you can have the same genre for all tracks taken from the ID3v1. For most people that is good enough. ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis

Click the link to the beta: http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/beta/betadownload.html Enter the username and password you got in the mail. You should see a page with some info about the beta and a box where you are supposed to enter your serial number, also from the mail. Then press the download button. ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis

I'm having a bit of a problem with the newest release. Before I start with my problem, I want to say that I've had similar problems like this before (but they were my fault), so I'm not sure if I blame this on the beta release. I'm trying to encode oggs using the latest oggenc external encoder with the command line:%s -o %d -b 192 -a "%1" -l "%2" -N "%3" -t "%4" Whenever I use that command line (and have the "Use ID3v1 tag" unclicked), the track number is not passed on. If I have the "Use ID3v1 tag" checked, it only passes part of the track name, and doesn't pass the track number either. I had to reformat before I tried this (damn hard drive crashes), so it's quite possible that I set it up wrong somehow, although my command line is the exact same as before (I grabbed it from these forums ). Any help is appreciated. [Edit]Ok, it's still acting funky... On certain track names (without any special characters other than spaces), it'll just chop the name field to like 5 letters including the space. I really don't get it now. This is without a doubt one of the most confusing things ever =\.[/Edit] [Edit2]I think I've found the culprit. My command line works completely. Winamp 3 is not displaying the track number field correctly I don't think. There's something else though. When I try to encode a long-named track, it does not send all the information. Almost like it's too much and it has to cut it at some point (hence the truncated file names). I look at the information Audiograbber is sending oggenc (in that little box) and that's how I found out. I'll include a picture if you want, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. In one instance, I have parenthases in the track name and it doesn't even encode it at all, it doesn't bring up the command window that oggenc uses. Yay beta software, hehe.[/Edit2] -Ecks [This message has been edited by Ecks on 04 November 2002 @ 17:41]

I think AG is sending a temp.wav as input file and then renames it once the encoder is done. It should make any difference what track name you have. Maybe the path name can be a problem? The ogg encoder seems to have some problems sometimes though, and also winamp is not the best OGG playback software. ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis

No, it's definitely Audiograbber's fault. Here, look at the picture here. In the window where Audiograbber says what command line it is passing, it just cuts off when it should keep going. It's possible that I just have way too long of a command line (this doesn't happen when I have short file names). I know winamp probably isn't the best, but it worked before (and I don't think it's a winamp problem anyway). So... umm... ya, any help is much appreciated.-Ecks

I have hit command line limits in windows before, can remember how long it was. But I know it has gotten longer with NT & 2K. Try moving your music to C:\Music rather the a buried sub-dir of "My Docs".

I can very well do that (and probably will). The thing I was bringing up was that this behavior is different from the non-beta version of Audiograbber. I've ripped my whole CD collection to the exact same location before with the exact same command line parameters. There's only two things different: my version of Audiograbber and an updated version of oggenc.exe. Ah well =\.-Ecks

Probably the oggenc.exe that has changed. Have you tried with the old ogg? ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis

No... I can't find it anymore. I think it was the pre-1.0 version although I'm not positive. I guess the only solution is to rip it to a shorter file directory. Is there then any way to transfer the files to where I want them to be automatically (sorry for the off topic stuff).-Ecks

I was just testing the new TOC detection with the new Herbert G. disk and it works fine with subcodes :-) but as soon as I start ripping the track I get an ASPI error...Could this be a bug or a problem with my drive (MATSUSHITAUJDA710)?

Most drives does not read any frame/sector higher than the one the drive reports as the last one for the last track. They read the subcodes sometimes but not the frames with the audio data itself. Can you tell me what the drive reports as the last frame for the last track on a "normal" TOC detection? (Check by doubleclicking the last track). [This message has been edited by Jackie on 18 November 2002 @ 13:20]

I can't download it. When I click the link, it asks for a username and password. What's up with that?
