The compared each programs ripping capabilities. I think they compared how programs could burn too if they could burn. (I didn't check that part so much since AG can not burn, I don't understand German, and the important part is the ripping part anyhow).I believe that AG won because of the new functions to detect a correct TOC. AG is the only program I know about that can get a correct TOC via both cd subcodes and to only use the first session on the disc. Sometimes one of the methods works and sometimes the other method work. And sometimes none of the methods works but it isn't much I can do about that. EAC was also in the test ( ) and I know EAC can get a correct TOC via cd subcodes but it does it in a quite clumsy way (It's a little too complex to explain here but there is a difference in the way AG and EAC gets the cd subcodes). EAC can not use the TOC from only the first session as far as I know. If the program can get a correct TOC then it just rips as usual so there isn't that much magic in that part.

If you patch the following key into your registry, you'll be able to install PlexTools and use the "1st TOC Only" Option.REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Juxtaposition] @="11111111" "Parameter"="11111111" Cheers -Chaka

Though the registry edit is not necessary if you can get ahold of an old copy of Plextools which is a full install rather than an upgrade.

hi jackie.... it's not about the bild-zeitung.. I'm living in germany and got no mail. I wanted to ask for a thread in the forum concerning feature request for audiograbber...there is no special forum here or in the german forum. I wanted to suggest a feature what I'm desperately missing: to convert downloaded cd information from the cd-database completely into lower cases...the first letter of a word always is in upper case..this suxx... maybe you could add a feature to convert it as the user likes it: all upper or all lower or standard...would be great..I talked to some friens who also use audiograbber and they say they are missing this feature,too... anyway, great work especially the new "anti-copy protection". damn idiots! would be great to here from you... tomripley@gmx.de

You guys from the big island are so incredible arrogant.Just click "Europe" at the plextor.com site - and you'll find everything at plextor.be. Greetings from Europe. quote: Originally posted by NeoRenegade: Interesting - I just checked out Plextor's site - they don't have PlexTools under their software downloads, but they have something called CD Res-Q, and the latest firmware for my drive is 1.04 - there is no 1.05.

As has been discussed before- 1.04 will work fine also- there is no 1.05 for various U.S. sold burners. [This message has been edited by reiko on 29 March 2003 @ 21:44]

Right. Im not a computer wizzard, in fact, im not even close. But i just stole radioheads "Hail to the thief" from his room, and tried to rip it into mp3's on my desktop so i could whack the album onto my iPOD. Obviously it didnt work, which is when i realised the little copy-protected symbol. I have since been looking up on the internet trying to find out how i could make the mp3's, and came across this forum. I couldnt be bothered to try and understand what all the technical words you all used meant, so i decided to boot up the laptop and try that. I opened Musicmatch jukebox, put in the CD, on clicked record. Its worked totally fine without any spikes or bleeps or bollocks like that. How comes nobody tried using musicmatch before? or am i missing the point? damn i feel stupid

Wow, did musicmatch really rip anything? I am amazed! ;-)You ripped it on another machine, your laptop. The copy protection is all about the hardware and just a little about the software. Try AG on your laptop and it will also rip it. Try musicmatch on your desktop and it will fail. ------------------ moonroy www.mp3.com/enuresis

I thought Canada was immune to "Copy Controlled" CD's. And just yesterday, I saw such a CD - Blur's new album.Heh... I got ticked off and brought it to the kid at the counter ant told him they had no right to be selling such bullsh!t. I think tomorrow I'll go back and buy the CD. Whether or not I manage to rip it, I'm going to return it to the store claiming that my stereo can't play it so it's useless to me. NeoRenegade,Don't you know that the fun thing with cd-ripping nowadays is to be able to rip those protected cd's I mean, ripping a standard cd is something that a kid and his grandma can do but to rip a protected cd takes a little more. Don't you remember how it was in 96-97? Only a few CD-ROM drives could rip cd's and there were not many programs to use and making an MP3 out of it took forever with L3enc.exe. Then it took a long time to find an FTP server where you could trade your song and get another MP3 file back. It was usually a 1:1 ratio on those servers if you were allowed to log in at all. And it took long long time to upload and download with a 28.8 Kbit/s modem. It took a whole evening just to make one MP3 and swap it for another MP3! Still I loved it! (On my first evening when I found out about MP3 I ripped Billy Idol - White wedding and uploaded it to some site named Duct tape or so and was able to download Buggles - Video killed the radio star. Guess if I was happy when Video killed the radio star streamed out of my speakers! ) Now there is at least a little challenge again with these protected cd's. And you know what hardware and software to use

Im not sure if someone mentioned this already but sound forge works great in ripping the tracks to wav files. I just used lame and encoded the wavs from there
