Switch the installer from the old 16bit installer which doesn't work well on 2k/XP to a 32bit installer. NSIS 2.x is a nice 32bit installer(Winamp uses it) and it's totally free.

I've been an AG user since 1/23/99! I've used it on many occasions and rely on it heavily. It's a great ripper and this new version continues the tradition of being awesome! Keep up the good work!

I'm seeing a frustrating problem in 1.82b2, in registered mode and would like a pointer.

- Windows 2000 Professional
- Built-in ASPI drivers
- Source CD-ROM is a Sony DVD+RW 2.4x drive, IDE
- This happens on many audio CD's, it's not limited to one source CD
- Dual AMD 2000+'s
- 1gig RAM
- Rip to RAM
- Flush after rip

When I have it set to rip at maximum speed (about 15x), I get quality problems. When I back it down to ripping at 4x, it rips properly and all is happy.

However, if I change CD's, refresh and retry to rip -without changing any settings-, it starts to rip at 15x againt.

If I change CD's, enter the settings box, and verify that it's set at 4x by looking at the dropdown (not by clicking anything), and then OK out, I get the same switch-to-15x behavior.

If I change CD's, enter the settings box, and click on the speed drop-down, and again manually select 4x (it already says 4x, remember), and then click OK, it works propertly ... until I change CDs, and repeat problem.

Any suggestions welcome.

Strange that you get quality issues when ripping using such a new drive.

Switch to dynamic sync method instead of burst copy, and also rip to RAM and you will probably not experience these problems.

I always have two scssi cd roms ripping whenever i am at my desk.
the old version used to chop my rip speeds in half when I used both at the same time.
The new version this problem seems to be GONE!! am I crazy or has this been fixed?
I origionaly thought that the scssi bus had reached max bandwith but mabey this was my cpu reaching max as it multi tasked.
anyway cool and thanks, now I rip at practically double the speed. (I also upgraded to win ME but could that make the differance?) JB
