A member of the Audio Community has created a special version of Audiograbber:

- Audiograbber 1.83 build 1 exe and help files.
- AGTestAndCopy.exe (reached from Start menu) - created by me.
- Ogg libvorbis.dll aoTuVb4 Lancer build (9 jul 2005)
- lame_enc.dll 3.97 alpha 12
- Optionally enable Fhg mp3 Pro Codec
- Connection to installed WMA 9 codec (unchanged)
- 26 selectable languages
- Improved default settings, e.g. -V2 --vbr-new for lame

However what makes this build stand out for me is the test and copy function. As the person who created it (and the bundle) states:

Quality: Using default setting for lame and when there is no checksum diffs in your rip (Test & Copy), you should get exactly the same quality as when using EAC secure mode with lame --preset fast standard.

See this thread for more and download link.

This bundled version has got nothing to do with Jackie and is not an official release. Due to legal rights, concerning shipping the program with MP3-encoders, this is not allowed.

Moonroy is correct as to the bundling mp3 encoders. I did suggest to the person who bundled it to use patent free codecs only but the Test & Copy feature is a significant development for Audiograbber and Jackie should look at incorporating that in an offical release.

However with the lack of a new version of AG (Jackie said there would be a winter release for 2004./05 and that has now passed) I felt that this one warranted a mention.

Someone on the Hydrogen Audio thread mentioned a 2.0 release of Audiograbber Jackie was working on but I have yet to hear back from him on this and other issues.

the only problem i see is that is default set NOT to use LAME. Last, i don't see how ilegal is now ... i mean, if you use windows, you can download WMP10, and you then have a valid license to use MP3 encoder, it doesn't matters which.

Sadly that does not seem to be true after the likes of the "attacks" on dbpowerramp and it's use of the mp3 encoder!

The use of wmp 10 and the use of the mp3 enocder does not seem to matter a jolt. What about non XP users of which there are many?

I know but what i'm saying is that WMP 10 is only for XP users and judging by those who post on these forums a good many do not use that operating system hence your suggestion is null & void for them.
