Hmm...

I'm sure there's something obvious here
that I missing.

I've been using audiograbber to rip mp3's
for some time now.

Today when I went to use it, odd things
occured.

When I press the the GRAB button to
make an mp3, it freezes for a moment,
then it plays the song for a moment,
and then it finishes, having created
an empty 1kb file.

I downloaded 1.83 thinking that might
help...but not yet.

What am I missing here?

Thanks very much for your help!

Small update here...

This time...It played the whole song
and created a silent but static speckled
mp3.

It normally does not play when it encodes.

Please help!

Thanks!

Try reinstalling an ASPI layer. Search Google for Force ASPI, installing it following the instructions.

Thanks for your response.

I'm sorry to report...

I downloaded the software and installed it...

Same response.

Sometimes...it clicks right over and
creates a 1kb files...and others...it
plays the track through and create
a noise ridden file.

I've used this software so many times
with no problems.

ugh!

:-)

Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Problem solved. Wow...

Under General Settings, CD-Rom access
mode was set to Analog and NOT ASPI.

I don't even know what any of this means
or how it got switched.

What is the default?

But I clicked ASPI and it's encoding
just fine now.

Thanks for your help!

Analog was going to be my next suggestion but your description did get me thinking about an aspi error due to the size of the outputted mp3 file and that there wasa freeze.

The default should be ASPI - analog is from a time when PC's were slow and cumbersome when it came to PC ripping. Not sure if anyone uses it now.
