I sure wish I could download an older version of audiograbber, because the new one doesn't work on the same hardware.

I need to get into audiograbber's mixer so that I can record music to MP3's that is going through the output channel my sound-card. For example -- let's say I'm listening to an interview at cnn.com -- I used to be able to select the appropriate channel in the mixer. Now... I'm only able to record from input sources such as a microphone.

Thoughts on how to resolve this?

Depends on what your soundcard allows the Windows mixer to use...

On mine you select 'Stereo Mixer' as the recording input....

Double click speaker icon in 'System Tray' ie bottom right of screen... this opens the mixer panel...

Select 'Options/Properties', make sure you're pointing at the right soundcard, and select 'Recording'...

Make sure all the components are selected (ie ticked).....

Then make sure the right input is selected and with the right volume level.

Also make sure that the 'Playback' settings are right... eg 'Wave' is not muted and volume level is OK....

Anyway, whatever.... none of this is to do with Audiograbber... its all Windows stuff. Audiograbber hasn't any mixers of its own, uses what Windows provides and if Windows can't do it, then..... be it old version, new version....

Hi,

I have the same problem on a brand new Lenovo W500. Have tried checking the audio inputs, but can't find/select 'stereo mixer'. The only source that I can use as source when it comes to audioinput, is the mic. Any suggestions?

Best Regards,
Bmj

BTW When clicking mixer in Audiograbber nothing happens. I have to right click on the speaker-icon in the system tray for entering sound-options.

I guess you are using Vista. Open the control panel>classic view>playback then right click in the window and select show disconnected devices.

The mixer does not work in Vista for Audiograbber.

Hi,

Sorry for not mentioning, but I'm running XP. (sp 2).. I've checked with some of my colleuges, and they think that some of the soundcards in Lenovo-machines does not support functionality like 'stereo mix'.

If you are recording something through the laptop i.e. internet radio then it could be called something else such as Wave. Just try them all under Windows Recording properties until AG's line in sampling meter shows some movement.

Or do you mean a physical port for line in recording from a turntable for example? Most laptops don't have a dedicated line in port in that case. Your best bet would be an internal sound card or a phono to USB device.
